Under the Skin – Understanding the Attributes
of High-End Leather with Phil Brown Sponsored by Century Furniture in ADAC, Suite 212.
Thirty years ago leather made up only 3% of upholstery sales in the United States. Today, leather accounts for almost a quarter of all upholstery sales with strong, continued growth projected. Join leather furniture expert Phil Brown for a comprehensive discussion of the specific attributes, uses and requirements of fine quality leather. From its resilience and durability to its exotic finishes, leather is an attractive and time-proven choice for upholstered pieces. Using both traditional and contemporary examples of leather applications, Brown will illustrate what characteristics to look for in determining quality and value.

The Preservation of Passion
A CEU-accredited presentation on finding inspiration in design by artist Lori Weitzner
CEU credit: 0.1
February 23, 2010
10:30 a.m.
ADAC Presentation Room, First Floor Atrium
Lori Weitzner’s passion for her work is driven by what inspires her to create. Inspiration can be found in anything that offers stimulation to the senses. Her CEU-accredited presentation, “The Preservation of Passion”, focuses on the artist's never-ending quest for new sources of inspiration. It will concentrate on the process through which Weitzner goes to find inspiration in her work and give the listening audience practical tools with which to ensure their own success. Inspiration can be found in something as specific as a color palette taken from a single artifact or as extensive as a cultural time period, both of which can act as a nucleus for creativity. “The Preservation of Passion” is conceptually stimulating and fresh, with the fundamental goal being to offer sources of inspiration for the listening audience in their own work.
A reception with light refreshments will follow in the Donghia, Inc. Showroom, Suite 317.
